Welcome to the first newsletter of 2026! I want to tell you about OCH’s new plan that aims to help tenants get more involved and have a stronger voice in what happens where you live.
We’re working on a Tenant Engagement and Inclusion Plan to support better communication, participation, and collaboration between tenants (you!) and OCH.
How was the plan formed?
In April 2025, we held consultations in two communities – Britannia Woods and 395 Somerset.
With help from Aging in Place, 80 residents shared their experiences, ideas, and concerns. We also talked to 25 staff to hear their perspectives. Thank you to everyone who joined in—you made a difference.
What we heard from you:
- You want to participate in decisions that affect you.
- You want information in the languages you speak.
- You want more chances to talk directly with staff.
What is already happening:
- The www.och-lco.ca website is available in many languages spoken by tenants.
- A new chat service on the OCH website lets you ask questions and get answers in your language.
- Programs are being reviewed to encourage more participation. Including updates to the Community Capital Fund. This webpage explains how we have made the Community Capital Fund easier for tenants to access at any time of the year.
- Tenant Service Centres have been updated so you can get all the services you need in one visit.
What are we working on next?
- Learning more about the languages spoken across OCH communities and looking for ways to provide more information in those languages.
- Supporting staff learning about different cultures and experiences.
- Working with partners who support tenant involvement.
- Continuing to look for ways to remove barriers to getting involved.
Everyone deserves a voice. Together, we can create more welcoming and inclusive spaces for all tenants.
